Classic Christmas Wedding

This beautiful wedding took place in December last year at riverstation.

At first look at the traditional Christmas center pieces and dark red colours, I was unsure that they would work in such a contempory venue but I was wrong! Very wrong! It looked simple, classic, traditional, right for the time of year and stunning!

Nikki has a great eye and her attention for detail shinned through. I loved every meeting with her, aways a big smile and loads of ideas to work with.

How shall I get to the church on time?

I love classic cars! Haynes museum of cars has always inspired me.. I can see myself now as Grace Kelly in 'To catch a thief' honeymooning in the the south if France, with my new husband and the wind in my hair.

I guess how important Wedding transport is, is how it fits in with your wedding day. Some people use transport as their special time together away from everyone else and take a mini trip in it. Some people use a fancy car to drive to a specific location for photos. Lots of people use transport just as a means to get to their location!

I would choose a car to fit with my theme. I love 1950's cars and think if I did get married in this country I would of definitely gone with a 50's car to go with a 50's dress and go on location to a diner for pics!..

Please find this list of transport for the Bristol bride.

Of course all of these wonderful travel means are great but if you are on a tight budget a friend with a large car, tied with ribbon, can also look just as glam!

2012 Wedding Industry Award National Winner!

Ok, so my feet haven't touched the ground I'm still feeling giddy!

Why? Because I had the wonderful fortune of having met and planned some great brides and grooms weddings that wrote amazing, tear jerking things about their day and voted for me at the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards, that resulted in me winning!... YES WINNING!.. I won the UK's Best Wedding venue Co-ordinater for riverstation.

The 24hrs I spent in London collecting the award was fabulous so I thought I would share my day with you.

My travelling companion was riverstation's restaurant manager Jarryd and we met late Morning and travelled up by train. Once arriving in London we checked in to our fab hotel in St. James's and took a stroll over Green park past Buckingham Palace and on to Regent st.

I swooned over the shop fronts including Fortnum and Mason and popped into All Saints to pick up some earring to complete my evenings outfit. The lovely Gail from The Mews (wedding gowns of Clifton village) lent me one of her Two Birds bridesmaids dresses and it was beautiful. They travel so well. You can scrunch them up in your suitcase and they come out utterly uncreased.

We then had reservations a the W hotel for Rock afternoon tea. A homage to Mick Jaggar and it not only looked good but tasted great! I particularly liked the little Rose cakes and smoked salmon on rye with a pickle.

Kirsten from The Little Wedding Helper then met with us and after giggles and lots of perfume we left for the awards. I must say I was a little nervous.

The awards took place at the Cafe de Paris just off Leicester square and we were greeted with bubbles. The theatre was divine, it had the largest chandelier where we all networked underneath with other nominees from our region. I met some lovely new friends and it was so nice to see some old friends too. Everyone looked so glam! As the awards began I was very impressed with the opening speech from The organiser Damien and Sky News corespondent Sarah.  I agree that brides and grooms should be making decisions on supplies that are well respected and highly recommended by other brides and grooms.

As they read out the winners it all got very exciting. Everyone whooped and cheered for their region. Planned for Perfection won Best Independent Wedding Planner from our region. As they read out my name I really could not believe it. My heart jumped so high and all I could think is, Michele don't trip! It's a lovely feeling as I've worked non-stop, day and night thinking about how to improve the weddings I organise and trying to remember every detail to make every wedding special.

So I would just like to thank everyone who voted for me!...
And to everyone involved to make The 2012 Wedding Industry awards totally brilliant!

After a trip to St. Martin's Lane's Light bar to celebrate in the morning I was feeling a little....So I went to Whole Foods swooned over the cake pops and beautiful produce and ate a lovely healthy breakfast! Yum..

What Music Shall I have at my wedding?

Ok, so you're getting married. You have planned where you are getting married, what time, your dress, your flowers, your cake, to whom!
What music do you fancy! The choice is endless!...Bands..Do make sure that someone you know or yourselves have seen the band live. I have seen many times wedding bands that sound good on their site but terrible live. I also suggest that you give them a soft drink tab only. A lot of bands I have seen sound good to start but soon get drunk and misbehave! Bands charge a lot of money and I think it's very unprofessional! You won't see your wedding planner drunk and you would hope that your other suppliers wont be drunk either! Any one for a wonky cake? Some west wedding bands I can suggest are -

I also love a touch of the nostalgic at a wedding. This can roll over to your music too -

These ladies provide fun and incredible presence at any event!

Shellac sound system provide amazing old school music via grammar phones!

The Dixie bells sing in beautiful harmony

DJs

I love a great DJ and the most up to date ones are when they have web sites that you can keep adding to your wedding playlist online. You can also request any song on the night and they'll play it! Brilliant! Any really good DJ may cost a little more but I do think it's worth it. When I have to deal with DJs that really do not care about what they are doing anymore it really annoys me as I feel my brides and grooms are not getting a good deal. They will only drop equipment when it suits them. They huff and puff if they have to put equipment upstairs. Their equipment and sound quality is often poor and dated. if it's cheese or slick sounds these south west DJs are great

The Wedding DJ's

During the Ceremony I do really love live music. It always works so much better as you don't have the worry of the recording getting jammed or the wrong song playing!
Pianists, guitarists, singers, harpists, quartets! I think they are all beautiful but you have to consider your personnel favorite style and what suits the venue. Church wedding? Organ it is!
Manor houses suit String and Harp instruments.
Outdoor venues require music that's a little louder. Jazz band maybe?
Quirky venues can hold live singers well.
Always ask around the office or family? I would say 60% of the weddings I organise have people they know or guests play and it works really well!

Here are some South West musicians I rate really highly

The Bath Spa String Quartet

Mark Barnwell, Spanish guitarist

Topaz Harpist and Violinist Duo
